Greenbelt is delighted to announce that, thanks to generous support from the West Gloucester community and beyond, 17.57 important acres in West Gloucester have been permanently protectd.
11.47 acres of land are at Rear Walker Street and Sumner Street adjacent to our Great Ledge property. The land includes both the wooded uplands as well as significant saltmarsh on both sides of Walker Creek. The purchase price for the Walker and Sumner Street properties was $80,000
Closer to our Tompson Street Reservation, we've conserved 6.1 acres of land with frontage on Bray Street and significant wetland features. Two beaver ponds, portions of well-worn trails, and classic mixed pitch pine and scrub oak forest are the noteworthy features. The purchase price for the Bray Street parcel was $25,000.
We're grateful for the geneorus support of many who made this project a success.
