While both adults stayed close by ; one on the nest and one perched on the perch beside the nest, I did not actuall see any nestlings. 10:25 AM - from the path to the marsh, there was one Osprey perched on the right side, bottom support of the nest. I did not see any Osprey in the nest, the nest look disheveled. I felt it was sad news for the nest. I went back up the trail, to the hill and down the other side to the marsh edge, David was there with his scope. Now the O at the bottom of the nest, perched on the middle support wood on the platform. We compared findings, thought maybe we saw an O in the nest, but concluded we were looking at space/sky between sticks. (2 young women from US Fish & Wildlife Service were there as well, ripping out pepper weed) David said he'd check on Sawyers again this weekend, & went on to the check another nest. I went back around to the marsh from the regular trail. At 11:10, I could clearly see 2 Ospreys sitting near each other, directly on the marsh. This was across the creek, way over to the left of the nest area. The one Osprey stayed at the bottom of the nest on the wood supports the whole time, so I did not walk to the nest to investigate the apparent loss of the nest.

Pauline has religiously sat in the nest until yesterday when her behavior changed. She stood in the side of the nest looking down. Bob brought her in fish. I kep looking to see some heads pop up but saw nothing. This morning she was still around the rim of the nest but not sitting on eggs. Later she flew around the marsh with Bob. They ate fish at the nest. Tonight they are perched in a tree looking at the nest. I fear the worst may have happened.

There were two osprey on the nest when I got there and one flew away. The other was not hunkered down in the nest but seemed attentive so maybe there is a chick. She seemed to be incubating on previous visits.

one osprey on nest. Another flying around, either that one or a third came and landed on nest. Both flew off together and then circled back, one on mnest, one on perch very close to platform. Confused by direction ospreys flying in were coming from if it was only one, in which case it was the mate, or if there was an intruder. Inclined to think no intruder

osprey sitting on nest, then looked up and called. 2nd osprey flew around and flew right over nest but didn't land and flew away over marsh. Later one on nest called again and gull that had come near (same one as last week???) flew off again.

One adult flew onto nest & dropped something into nest as other adult appeared on edge of nest. The latter had not been visible before the other adult flew in. (Nest is quite deep.) Adult that flew in left almost immediately. Adult on nest dropped into nest & was clearly eating or feeding chicks. Not possible to see what was actually happening but I think adult was feeding youngster(s).

This report immediately follows another one at this nest in at Haverhill Stadium. Initial report showed NO activity. In seeking a new viewpoint, I turned car around & 2 adults were immediately seen. See above for details.

one bird on nest, incubating; second bird flew in with small fish, deposited it on edge of platform; the two interacted a bit, then first bird flew with the fish over to the post perch and began feeding itself - so I feel that means no hatchlings yet, or they would have been fed
