hot, calm, muggy
I observed at first two birds in the nest watching the adult flying. That bird was doing what I think of as "flying lessons" - flying low and near the nest, calling. One bird in the nest hopped and flew a little bit close to the nest, then came back. One stayed in the nest. Eventually 2 flew off and one remained. I am still unsure whether we have 1 or 2 fledglings. I suspect 2 and one is just a little younger than the other. Will check again in the morning.

Cloudy 78 degrees no visible wind. Water very calm.
There were two adult osprey in nest very busy with what appeared to be feeding chicks. I do think I glimpsed some small heads. Both adults seemed very focused and it is possible they could have been feeding themselves. They did continue to rotate so I observed them facing in and out of the nest. One fluffed its wings a few times.

78 degrees, foggy, cloudy, no wind, the water was very flat.
One Osprey was spotted flying but not circling like the other observation on the nest at Salem Ferry. There was also a small fishing boat nearby and with the fog obscuring the nest there did not appear to be any activity. However, by the end of the time I was observing the fog was lifting and I did observe one osprey in the nest. It was huddled down in the nest and I could not really tell if it was an adult.

Foggy. There was a layer of fog right at the nest level (clear above and below) By the end of my observation it did start to lift and one osprey was visible in the nest.

One osprey was perched above nest. There was no activity visible in nest. A small boat with a person fishing came in very close to the channel marker. The osprey fluffed his/her wings a few times and then flew off its perch. It continued to circle the nest flying high and low over the water. It did not go far from the nest and when the boat moved a bit it returned and perched directly on the edge of the nest. The boat was still nearby but not directly below.

I returned today to try to determine if the Osprey in the nest was an adult or chick. Again it was sitting low in the nest, but I could clearly see the back feathers. Upon arrival, only one adult was at the nest. She was standing off to one side. At the other side of the nest, I could see a chick's dark head and neck. In the middle of the nest, another chick was lifting up its wings. A third chick posed its head up right underneath the adult. I saw all three distinctly on 2 different occasions. After several minutes, the other adult arrived with a fish and placed it in the nest. The female was ripping pieces off and feeding at least one chick. I'm not sure whether the other chicks were feeding themselves or taking fish from the adult.

I’m delinquent in reporting because I’ve been waiting to confirm chicks at the nest. I can’t but I do see another volunteer says he saw a chick yesterday! Good news. Once again, last night and today I saw male and female on the nest. I imagine they must be fairly big by now so hopefully next week I’ll see them. It wasn’t until 7/10 last year that I was able to confirm.

1 adult was feeding young in the nest, and the other adult was on a tree behind the nest, and then it flew off. 1 of the nestlings was very visible as it stood up and pooped off the side of the nest. This one was fairly large with a black line on the face and a speckled back. It appeared there may have been a second chick in the nest as well, but I couldn't confirm this.

After 10 mins, the male returned empty-handed, checked in at the nest then moved to the low perch. The adult in the nest continued to shade the nestlings while constantly looking to the sky above. For a couple minutes, I could clearly see two dark colored chicks, just the head and neck.
