Fledgling perched on nest
This is the last of the fledglings for this nest. This individual has continued to spend long periods on the nest. The other fledglings were last seen several weeks ago. An adult, presumably the male, has continued to provide a fish once or twice a day. The fledgling makes periodic short flights throughout the day, and occasionally it goes for more extended periods. It is not clear that this bird has returned to the nest with a fish it caught on its own.

I am not certain that these osprey were fledglings (& not adults) but I think they were for two reasons: 1. the colors of one were yellowish on head and chest with brownish body (I had not observed this on an adult previously) and 2. they both seemed a little smaller than the adults reported earlier.

3 fledglings still connected to nest. All 3 fly off from time to time. More likely to want to roost in separate locations, two on perches nearby, one on the nest. Occasionally 2 or all 3 together on the nest. Male adult seems to deliver fish now and then. Fledglings calling almost continually throughout the day. Behavior suggests fledglings still not successful at fishing for themselves. Female adult not seen today.
From yard and house throughout the day
Fledgling birds still recognizable because of speckled appearance. Slight white rim at the end of each feather.

Spotting scope from house
This osprey family of two adults and three nestlings continues to cluster as a family. The male is often gone for long periods. In recent days, the female has also sometimes departed for distance flights, though mostly when she leaves the nest it is for quick fly around. Nestlings seem to know to be less obtrusive when adults are away. When feeding, offspring have begun grabbing for bites on their own, though still tend to be fed by the female. Offspring seem to allow one bird to feed at a time. Offspring appearance still fairly speckled, with white tips at the ends of most feathers. Offspring body size appears closer to adult size.

Initially only one perched on a dayboard. Later an apparent intruder approached but was deflected by the fluttering of the first. Later still, what I believe to be the mate landed and perched on another dayboard.

Arrive to find one adult on the platform and a gull on the pole perch. Gull soon driven off by another gull! About 5 mins later second adult appeared and flew to platform. Brief exchange between adults then arrival left in large circle as gull left perch to be replaced by adult osprey (probably the male based on past behaviour.)

Was finally able to correctly locate this nest via photos from Nelson Island parking lot. Too far for decent images[heat haze and vibration in breeze] but did observe with scope one adult of platform feeding fledglings, one of which stood briefly and did strengthening wings flaps. Not sure of number of fledglings. Other adult present on post perch throughout.

Adult #1 was perched on rim of nest with what appeared to be a wing flutter from down in nest; Adult #2 flews to nest and remained for many minutes, doing housekeeping with a rather large partial branch; then fledgling appeared on nest rim with the 2 adults; baby had some feathers and was nearly as big as the adults; A#2 kept on housekeeping and then flew away; baby disappeared down into nest; A#1 sat again on nest rim looking around; there was no eating as far as I could see
A word about their descriptions:
A#1 - black body; white & black head with red stripe btw. colors
A#2 - more brown than black body; white & black head with red
stripe on neck btw. colors
Fledgling - brown body; yellowish head with red stripe on neck
NOTE: There is a long birch tree (4-6" diameter) which has fallen across the path to the look-out platform, making it a little difficult to get there. It would be helpful if it could be cut (which I can't do). Tx.

A lot going on. Nest appeared empty upon arrival. After 10 minutes an adult perched on the side of the nest for 2 minutes and departed. Moments later another adult arrived with a fish closely followed by yet another also with a fish. Both landed in the nest. Curiously I observed no feeding activity . A third adult made an attempt to land on the nest but was met with mild resistance form the two already there, encouraging it to move on which it did. At about the 20 minute mark the two adults in the nest departed, leaving the fish behind. Again no feeding activity observed.

Initially one Adult was observed low in the nest. Very soon after arrival a second adult, with a fish, went to the perch and began to feed. This got the attention of the nest sitter who stood up and watched Osprey number two feed. I did not observe any nestling activity. After 15 minutes the nest sitter went back to being low in the nest and appeared to be fusing around a bit. Not seeing any nestlings I wonder if the pair may possibly be caring for sterile eggs.

Lots of activity on the nest by both male & female. Could not see any fledglings, as the nest is very deep.

Female flew onto the nest from the nearby pole perch. Stood on nest and perched on the nest perch, and then flew off: possibly to catch a fish.
