Today, March 26, we are witnessing a repeat of the past 2 years, with Annie returning and being greeting by a banded intruding male Osprey that I assume is the same one from previous years. He started bringing in some nesting materials today, as shown in photo, and just like the past 2 years, what he carried in to build the nest was mostly seaweed and organic materials, not sticks. I know I am repeating myself by speculating on how this will turn out, but Squam has typically arrived after Annie in most years and this year appears the same. I believe this banded male will remain present, trying to act the part of Annie’s mate, but will eventually be pushed away by Squam upon his return. Nothing like a bit of drama to kick off season.
