Maureen Corbett wanted to ensure the native woodlands adjacent to her Haverhill home would be forever protected after her death.

A lifelong resident of Haverhill, Mrs. Corbett was a Certified Public Accountant and started her own practice in Haverhill in 1980. She was graduate of Bentley College in Waltham, where she filled several roles including Adjunct Professor of Accounting and the first woman President of the Bentley College Alumni Association.

Greenbelt had met with Mrs. Corbett in 2016 to discuss her intentions and assist her with planned giving. She agreed that Greenbelt could sell the house on her 8.5-acre property after her death, as long as the surrounding woodlands were protected.

After Mrs. Corbett’s death in 2018, Greenbelt sold the home and retained 5.65 acres woodlands that connect to Haverhill watershed lands.

Greenbelt is deeply appreciative of Mrs. Corbett’s generosity, and is honored to have been included in her wishes to leave a lasting legacy of conserved land in Haverhill.
