DeNormandie Woods/Long Hill

In January 2025, Greenbelt successfully acquired 330 acres in Gloucester and Manchester, completing the DeNormandie Woods/Long Hill Conservation Project. This acquisition safeguards crucial natural habitats, a well-established trail network, and important watershed lands, ensuring they remain permanently protected from development.

The property is part of a 1,400-acre expanse of protected forestland spanning Manchester, Essex, and Gloucester, representing an unusually large stretch of undeveloped land in the region. The DeNormandie Woods Conservation Project, which includes Long Hill, connects the City of Gloucester’s drinking water supply land, conservation land owned by the Town of Manchester, and parcels held by Greenbelt and the Manchester Essex Conservation Trust, forming a cohesive and expansive protected landscape.
