Greenbelt needs “Citizen Scientists” to document the behavior of Ospreys in Essex County! We need volunteers to “adopt a nest” by visiting the nest at least once
a week, recording observations and taking photographs. The “Watch” season begins in early April and goes through August. Volunteers will need to submit an online data
sheet once a week and can email photos as well.
Know what an Osprey looks like.
Be able to visit the nest for at least 15 minutes once a week and fill out Greenbelt's online report.
Have a pair of binoculars or spotting scope.
Please submit an application below and you will be assigned to a geographically appropriate nest or if you already have a nest in mind you would like to watch
please tell us in the message field on the application. You will also receive an Osprey Monitoring
Greenbelt is grateful to several professional and staff photographers whose work is featured prominently within our website.
Thank you Jerry Monkman / ecophotography.com, Lynne Holton, Kindra Clineff, Adrian Scholes and John Raleigh.
