Outdoor Adventure Team
Greenbelt’s Outdoor Adventure Team (GOATs) was established in late 2015 with the goal of building a vibrant community of enthusiastic volunteers to support and enrich our expanding calendar of outdoor activities and events.

Greenbelt offers at least one hike on the weekend and one on a weekday each month. GOAT members play a key role in supporting these hikes, ensuring the safety and enjoyment of participants. They may also lead hikes if they are familiar with the property. GOATs are encouraged to be outgoing, passionate about naturalism, experienced in hiking year-round, and have a background in First Aid.
GOAT members may work with the Events and Outreach Manager to share their outdoor expertise on hikes, suggest event ideas, or recommend expert leaders and instructors to help diversify our outdoor activities calendar.
Time Commitment
The time commitment varies according to your schedule and areas of interest. We ask that you try to participate in at least two activities or events per year.
Training & Orientation
We will work closely with individuals or groups interested in joining Greenbelt’s Outdoor Adventure Team. Before each assignment, we’ll provide clear preparation, outlining expectations and the time frame involved. Active GOAT volunteers will be eligible for First Aid/CPR training through Greenbelt.
