Dear Friends,

As we welcome 2025, I’d like to take a moment to reflect on Greenbelt’s many remarkable achievements over the past year and extend our heartfelt gratitude to the many donors, volunteers, partners, and friends across the region whose unwavering support and enthusiasm make our work possible.

By all measures, 2024 was among the busiest and most impactful years at Greenbelt in recent history.

  • Conservation — We protected more than 400 acres of land, including Mount Hunger in Gloucester and Essex, Parsonage Hill in Haverhill, and Baldpate Hill in Georgetown. We also celebrated the opening of Artichoke River Woods in West Newbury and the acquisition of an adjoining property.
  • Stewardship — Our commitment to ensuring high-quality public access to our properties was strengthened by the addition of a new accessible parking lot at Seine Field in Gloucester and a new boardwalk at Alt Reservation in Beverly, along with several other important projects.
  • Engagement — In addition to our major signature events, our engagement team organized more than 50 free public programs, offering diverse audiences a wide range of opportunities to connect with nature and strengthen community bonds.
  • Volunteers — Our 200-plus dedicated volunteers were integral to all of the above efforts, from maintaining properties and providing office support to assisting at events and monitoring Osprey nests.

Looking ahead to 2025, we are feeling energized and optimistic. In just the past several days, we successfully acquired the 330-acre DeNormandie Woods Conservation Area in Manchester and Gloucester — a huge win for the region! Additionally, we are moving forward with several farmland conservation projects and an array of other initiatives. I look forward to sharing more details in the coming months.

Thank you again for your ongoing dedication to Greenbelt. Wishing you a happy, healthy, and fulfilling new year!

Sincerely,

Chris LaPointe
President
